Micro-physics of Cosmic-Ray Observables (MiCRO)

MiCRO is a research project coordinated by Dr. Silvio S. Cerri and funded by the National Research Agency ("ANR"). The goals of MiCRO are to improve theoretical models of cosmic-ray (CR) transport in the Galaxy based on the micro-phyiscs of CR-turbulence interaction, and to explore in detail how these different models reflect onto the direct/indirect cosmic-ray observables (from direct detection of cosmic rays, to gamma-ray and radio emission, as well as neutrino fluxes).

MiCRO's key scientific questions:

  • How we model different type of plasma turbulence (both pre-existing and CR-generated), and how we self-consistently describe CR-transport considering these different models?
  • What specific signatures belonging to these different scenarios can be found and/or predicted in the context of direct and indirect CR data from current and forthcoming experiments?
